“The renowned establishment had received numerous awards before its unexpected closure.”

“In a heartfelt social media post, the actress – who has played Fiz Brown on the soap since 2001 – revealed that her Manchester restaurant, Annies, had closed its doors for the final time.”

The well-loved gastropub and bar, situated in the heart of Manchester, was co-owned by Jennie and her partner Chris Farr.
Highly esteemed by diners, the venue had secured a spot among the top five restaurants in Manchester on Tripadvisor shortly before its closure.
Devoted customers, who had supported the restaurant since its opening in 2012, have been left devastated by the sudden news.
Jennie and Chris shared in a statement: “It is with heavy hearts that we’ve had to close Annies’ doors this week.”
The extensive menu also included a classic hotpot made with lamb and topped with crispy potatoes.
Annies not only earned a top spot on Tripadvisor’s list of recommended Manchester eateries, but was also recognised nationally in September as one of the country’s “best of the best.”
When Tripadvisor revealed its Traveller’s Choice Awards Best of the Best Restaurants—celebrating diners’ favourite spots for 2024—Annies proudly secured a place in the top ten.
The restaurant had also previously received the People’s Choice award for Best Tea Room at the Manchester Tourism Awards, thanks to its popular selection of afternoon teas.
While Jennie and Chris have not disclosed the reason for the closure, devoted fans have been quick to express their affection for the much-loved venue.
One saddened customer wrote: “This is such heartbreaking news.
“It was one of our favourite spots whenever the girls got together—we’ve enjoyed afternoon tea, Sunday lunch, theatre nights, and breakfast there.
“No matter the occasion, Annies was always the perfect fit.”
Another supporter wished Jennie and Chris all the best in their future ventures, expressing they were “absolutely gutted” by the news.
They wrote: “It was the only place where I truly felt at ease.
“The food was outstanding, the décor was beautiful, and the atmosphere had something really special about it.
“I’ll miss Annies deeply—it was always such a lively little gem.”
This announcement follows closely on the heels of another blow to the dining scene, as a popular pan-Asian restaurant chain—renowned for its stylish setting and cocktail offerings—confirmed the closure of all its locations.
PEACH, a restaurant group based in East Hertfordshire, revealed that both of its branches have shut down after five years of operation.
Founded in 2020 by Dan Knowles and Leigh Keates, the business ran restaurants in Bishop’s Stortford and Hertford.
Though no reason was given for the closure, the founders shared in a statement: “With great sadness, we want to let you know that both restaurants have now closed.”
“This was a very difficult decision and one we did not make lightly.
We are truly thankful for the support, kindness, and loyalty you’ve given us throughout the years — it has meant the world to us.”
