General Hospital Spoilers: Sonny's IV is Tampered With, Mac Discovers a Crime—Is the Mob Boss Nearing Death?

General Hospital spoilers and rumors suggest that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) may be facing death after being attacked in his hospital recovery room in Los Angeles.

Just after Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) and Brick (Stephen A. Smith) were reassured that Sonny had made it through surgery successfully, an attacker posing as a nurse entered his room with a syringe.

The Attacker Appeared to Resemble Colette Moreau

The attacker bore a striking resemblance to Colette Moreau (Mercedes Renard Lopez), Jack Brennan’s (Chris L. McKenna) assistant—the same person who previously went rogue and shot at Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart).

Much like the late Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober), Colette Moreau (Mercedes Renard Lopez) was seen injecting Sonny’s IV with a syringe after turning off his heart monitor—only for him to wake up and spot her.

Brick had reassured Carly that a security team was watching over Sonny, but it was after he left that the attack occurred—where was the security team? Did they leave too?

Later, Carly enters Sonny’s room, horrified, and exclaims, “Oh my God!” What exactly does she witness upon entering the room—does she catch the attacker in the act, or has she arrived too late?

Cyrus Renault—the Ideal Scapegoat?

Very few people knew where Sonny was undergoing surgery, and even fewer were aware he was having the procedure in the first place.

Carly fabricated a story about traveling to Los Angeles for hotel property scouting, likely sharing the same with Jack.

The only other person outside of Sonny’s family who knew was Natalia Ramirez (Eva La Rue), who told her ex-husband, Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota). If the syringe contained digitalis, Cyrus would be the prime suspect—the perfect fall guy, as he’s dead and the only ones who know about it are Brennan and Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy).

However, Colette might be aware as well, since Brennan trusts his assistant. Could he be using her as his hitwoman, having her follow Carly?

Mac Uncovers a Crime

Carly won’t return to Port Charles until the end of the week, where she’ll be debriefed by Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros). Nina will update Carly on everything related to Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen), Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison), and Michael Corinthos (currently Chad Duell) refusing to visit Willow.

On the same day, Mac Scorpio (John J. York) learns of a crime, and the timing of this development seems significant.

Maurice Benard recently expressed his gratitude to fans for supporting him and his career over the past thirty years, though he didn’t indicate any plans to retire.

Considering this and the events unfolding on the ABC soap this week, could Sonny, the mob boss, be facing death?
