ITV has confirmed that a Coronation Street-Emmerdale crossover episode is in the works, set to “connect the two worlds” and “bring consequences for both communities.”
Coronation Street and Emmerdale will come together for a special hour-long crossover episode.
The episode will mark the debut of ITV1 and STV’s new scheduling format, launching in January 2026.
For the first time in British TV history, Corrie and Emmerdale will team up for a one-off special.
Characters from both shows will cross paths as the production teams collaborate on storylines that promise “lasting consequences for all involved.”
The scriptwriting has been described as “brilliant,” with soap creators working relentlessly behind the scenes to “unite the two worlds.”
Though Coronation Street and Emmerdale will overlap for just one day, the characters will eventually return to their respective homes in Manchester and Yorkshire.
ITV explained: “The episode will stand alone, but the dramatic events will have lasting effects on both communities, forever connecting them as familiar faces leave and exciting new characters join both soaps.”
“Following the crossover, each soap will return to its regular schedule—Emmerdale airing at 8pm and Coronation Street at 8:30pm on ITV1 and STV. Episodes will also be available on ITVX and STV Player at 7am before their evening broadcast.”
ITV has also promised “a special surprise for viewers,” with producers inviting the audience to select which two characters they’d like to see meet and interact in a scene.
A star from each soap will be selected, with details set to be revealed in June through the official social media channels of the soaps.
