EastEnders star Heather Peace has opened up about her breast cancer diagnosis.

She wrote: “This video is an important part of my recent journey, which I wanted to share with you. It’s been a true #TeamEffort here @bbceastenders. I needed a wig fitting. It’s been a long road for me over the past several months.”

Heather continued, “I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the start of October. Since then, I’ve had surgery and recovery during the Christmas period, and today marks the end of my chemotherapy treatment.”

“I woke up this morning feeling like I had just reached the end of the London Marathon; I had turned onto The Mall and could see the huge clock and the finish line. To sum up – I’ve just earned my medal.”

However, Heather shared that her life has been “forever” altered. She said, “But I’m forever changed. Throughout this time, I’ve narrowed my focus. I’ve cherished the most precious moments with my wife Ellie and our three girls—Annie, Jessie, and Lola—just trying to appreciate every second with them.”

“I’ve remained present. I’ve found joy in the simplest things. My interactions with others have felt genuine and meaningful because I’ve had no energy for small talk. It’s been such a personal transformation. There have been so many positives.”

“I feel very fortunate.”

She then took a moment to express her gratitude to the BBC soap team for their support.

“Thank you to everyone at EE for going above and beyond. A special thanks to our incredible make-up team, and to Alex Rouss for the original wig and Linda for the perfect cut. I’ve felt completely supported by all of you.”

Heather continued, “Thank you to all the friends in my local community who have been there for me and my family whenever we needed it (you know who you are). Thank you to the NHS. You are amazing, skilled people. You treated me with efficiency, dignity, and kindness. I truly appreciate it.”

She wrapped up her message: “Life feels very different now, and it’s wonderful. I will continue to cherish and be grateful for everything I’m blessed with. I feel very lucky. With love, Heather xxx.”
