Natalie Cassidy revealed that she didn’t see her favorite scene when watching her EastEnders exit and isn’t certain if it was edited out or if she simply overlooked it.

EastEnders star Natalie Cassidy has shared that she believes her “favorite” moment was removed from her character’s farewell.
The actress recently bid farewell to Walford after portraying Sonia on and off for 32 years in the BBC soap. In her final scenes, Sonia departed on a speedboat, playing her cherished trumpet, as she set off for a new journey in Bali.
Natalie, 41, said that although her exit from Albert Square was “lovely and uplifting,” there was one particular scene she had hoped to see, which she now believes may have been cut from the final episode. Speaking on the Off The Telly podcast, which she co-hosts with Joanna Page, she revealed the scene featured “a moment” between Sonia and Phil (Steve McFadden).

Reflecting on her departure, she said: “I felt quite emotional, but you know what? Maybe I just wasn’t paying close enough attention, but I think they left out the scene that was actually my favourite.
“It was a moment between Sonia and Phil—just the two of us sharing something in the Square. I didn’t catch it.”
Joanna responded, “Oh wow, do you think they edited that part out?” before adding, “Or maybe you just didn’t catch it? It’s possible you missed it.”

“I’m not sure,” the actress admitted. “I might need to rewatch it. I’d be really annoyed if it was cut because it was such a lovely scene!”
Still, Natalie said she was pleased with how Sonia’s departure played out. “I’ve had so many DMs and messages from people saying they shed a tear—but a happy one,” she shared.
“It was cheerful and uplifting. It wasn’t gloomy, and she didn’t leave in a black cab, so it had a fun vibe.”
Natalie first appeared on EastEnders in 1993 at the age of 10 and has remained a fan favourite throughout the years. She took time away from the show in 2007 and again in 2011, but always made her way back to Albert Square.

However, in January, she revealed she’d be leaving once more. The actress expressed to fans that she was “deeply saddened” to be saying goodbye and would “always remember” her time in Walford, though she was also looking forward to what lies ahead.
“After another amazing 11-year run on the Square, I’ve made the decision to explore new opportunities,” she said in a statement. “EastEnders is a part of who I am, so I’ll never forget where my journey began, and I’ll always have a deep love for the show.”
