EastEnders viewers were left scratching their heads after Zack Hudson emerged from a lake just hours after it was revealed he seemingly died in a car crash
EastEnders viewers have labelled the recent plot twist involving Zack Hudson as “absurd”, following a surprising resurrection just hours after a car crash. It’s been a week of blunders for Sharon Watts’ brother on the popular BBC soap.
The drama kicked off when he revealed to Harry Mitchell that his brother Barney is actually his son, not Teddy Mitchell’s, leading to him being unceremoniously stuffed into a car boot.
Despite his anger at Zack for having an affair with his wife Nicola Mitchell, Teddy did the honourable thing and enlisted Honey Mitchell, Billy Mitchell, and Nigel Bates to tail Harry’s car.
Upon locating Harry in a woodland area, they convinced him to return home. However, Teddy wanted a word with Zack once he regained consciousness, reports the Manchester Evening News.
When Zack woke up, he panicked, causing Teddy to lose control of the vehicle, which veered off the embankment and plunged into the water.
On Wednesday (May 28), Teddy announced that he couldn’t locate Zack in the water, leading viewers to believe that he had drowned in the aftermath of the crash.
However, just a day after fans were left heartbroken by actor James Farrah’s supposed departure, Zack’s fate was unveiled.
In Thursday’s episode (May 29), Teddy confirmed to Barney that Zack was indeed his biological father, following Vicki Fowler’s revelation to the young lad the previous night.
The drama unfolded in Harry’s Barn as Nicola made the shocking revelation to Harry that she was responsible for the death of his pregnant girlfriend, Shireen Basharr, whose remains were only discovered a month ago after a four-year search. Nicola’s confession followed Shireen’s discovery of the truth about Barney.
Just as Barney was trying to wrap his head around the truth about his real father, Zack burst into the house, drenched in water, dispelling fears that he had met his demise.
Zack explained that he had opted to make a daring swim to the opposite side of the lake, fearing retribution at the hands of Teddy and Harry.
In an attempt to gain Barney’s trust, Zack revealed that Nicola is a murderer, but the plan backfired as Barney panicked and made a desperate bid to escape him.
As tensions escalated, a brawl between Teddy and Zack erupted in the Square, leading Barney to express his deep longing for life to return to normal. The episode concluded on a poignant note with the Mitchells sharing a family bonding moment over a board game.
Meanwhile, viewers took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their reactions to Zack’s astonishing return.
