Fans are eager to find out how and when Stacey will be leaving Albert Square!

Lacey Turner has confirmed that she’s taking an “extended break” from EastEnders, leaving fans heartbroken over Stacey Slater’s departure from Albert Square.

The show’s producers are keeping details about how Stacey will leave Walford – and for how long – under wraps, but they’ve teased plenty of action leading up to Stacey’s exit.

Lacey Turner, who welcomed her third child, daughter Gipsy Olive, in January, told The Sun that it’s time for both her and her character to take a break from EastEnders.

“It’s time for Stacey and I to have a rest, and who knows what Stacey will get up to while she’s away?” Lacey shared. “Knowing Stacey, it’ll never be dull.”

Currently on screen, Stacey is mourning the loss of her ex-husband Martin. She was there by his side when he passed away following the explosion at Queen Vic, and the two had expressed their love for each other.

Stacey is struggling to cope with Martin’s death. She’s isolating herself, which has caused tension, particularly with her teenage daughter, Lily.

In real life, Lacey is taking some time off after recently giving birth to her baby. While she’s made occasional appearances on screen, she’s not been featured as frequently.

The door is open for a comeback

Lacey has been part of EastEnders since 2004. She took a break in 2010 and returned permanently in 2014. While it’s unclear if this break from Albert Square will be as long as her previous one, fans can take comfort knowing she’s not leaving for good.

“We can confirm that Lacey will be off-screen later this year,” an EastEnders insider revealed. “However, there’s still plenty of drama to unfold before then, and we’re excited to plan Stacey’s return when Lacey feels it’s the right time.”
