Coronation Street star Colson Smith has opened up about his character Craig Tinker’s emotional departure following the release of a dramatic new trailer.
The actor, who has played Craig on the cobbles for X years, reacted with a simple: “Yikes!”
And honestly, we feel the same.
All signs point to a heartbreaking farewell for Craig.
Craig’s day is off to a great start!
PC Tinker is all smiles when he gets the opportunity to shadow DC Kit Green as part of his CID placement. He’s absolutely delighted to have another shot at progressing in his career.
And it’s not just his professional life that’s looking up — Craig’s even lined up a date, hoping to add a little romance to his world!
Until it all goes downhill…
What started as a promising day soon unravels for Craig. Kit gets sidetracked by his shady dealings with Mick Michaelis, leaving Craig frustrated and disheartened. Venting to DS Swain, she challenges him to step up and prove himself.
So, when a call comes in about a disturbance, Craig jumps at the chance to show what he’s made of. But things spiral out of control — and PC Tinker quickly finds himself in a dangerous situation.
Next time we see him, Craig is battered and bloodied.
What on earth went wrong?!
A heartbreaking exit? Colson Smith seems to think so!
The intense trailer kicks off with Swain reflecting, “If we knew today was our last day on earth, what would we do differently?” We then see flashes of Craig — bloodied and later lying in a hospital bed — as Swain ominously adds, “There isn’t always more time.”
We’re not going to sugarcoat it — things are looking bleak for poor Craig!
Colson’s departure from Coronation Street was confirmed back in the autumn, and ever since, rumours have swirled about his character being killed off. After watching that emotional trailer — and hearing Colson’s own reaction — those rumours might just be true.
Can Craig survive this?
The dramatic episodes are set to air next week, but Corrie bosses are staying silent on whether determined PC Tinker will make it out alive — or if his time on the cobbles will come to a tragic end.
We’re holding out hope for a positive outcome for our beloved Craigy… but it’s not looking too promising!
