“Viewers aren’t impressed with the new direction”
This week’s Coronation Street episodes have largely centred around the younger characters, leaving many fans unimpressed with the teen-focused plots.
Storylines such as Aadi’s midsummer party and Lauren Bolton’s terrifying LSD trip have taken the spotlight, but not all viewers are on board.
The recent episodes have sparked criticism, with a number of complaints flooding in from longtime fans.

Aadi’s Midsummer Bash Turns Chaotic on Coronation Street
During Monday’s episode (June 23), Aadi Alahan threw a midsummer gathering at Dev’s house, an idea sparked by Bernie.
After Bernie mocked the teens for being “boring” and “acting old before their time,” Aadi aimed to change that perception.
Things took a turn when Brody Michaelis arrived and tried to sell LSD. Aadi intervened, snatching the drugs away and kicking Brody out.
Later, Aadi chose to try the LSD with Nina and Summer, but he left his drink unattended. Upon returning, he noticed the drug had vanished.
It soon became clear that Lauren had taken it and ended up wandering into the factory, clearly distressed and hallucinating about Joel.
Aadi took her back to his place so she could recover, while Nina and Summer had their own drama — entering Roy’s Rolls in tears after witnessing something deeply upsetting while under the influence.

Coronation Street Viewers Tired of Teen-Focused Plots
Coronation Street fans have voiced their frustration online, expressing disappointment with the recent emphasis on teenage storylines. Many long for the days when the show featured a more balanced mix of characters across all age groups.
One frustrated viewer posted: “Enough with the teens and twenty-somethings. Bring back Rita at the Kabin, Evelyn, and Roy. I’m not here for these kids and their nonsense.”
Another critic added: “I don’t know who Corrie’s writers think they’re appealing to lately, but it’s clearly not the loyal, long-time audience. This teen party storyline is unbearable. Teenagers don’t even watch the show. Adults do — and we’re over it.”
A third viewer didn’t mince words, writing: “What on earth has Corrie become? It’s starting to feel like a bad teenage sitcom.”
