“Sue Cleaver, best known for her role as Eileen Grimshaw on ITV’s Coronation Street, was married to a fellow cast member for a decade — and fans are only now finding out.”

Sue Cleaver, famous for portraying Eileen Grimshaw on the hit ITV soap Coronation Street, was previously married to a co-star — a revelation that has only just surfaced for many fans.
Sue rose to fame after joining the show in 2000 as Eileen. As the matriarch of the Grimshaw family, she quickly captured viewers’ hearts and became a fan favourite.
Eileen has played a key role in many major storylines over the years, ranging from feuds with neighbours to her stormy marriage to infamous villain Pat Phelan (Connor McIntyre). Life in Weatherfield has definitely been anything but quiet for her.
Earlier this year, news broke that Sue would be departing the show after 25 years in the role of Eileen. She later explained that she was ready to pursue new ventures.

Off-screen, Sue is now married to ITV lighting technician Brian Owen. But according to Leicestershire Live, she was once married to a fellow Coronation Street actor.
Sue was married to actor James Quinn between 1993 and 2003. Soap fans may recognise James from his appearances in several shows, including Coronation Street.
Since 1989, James has taken on six different roles in the soap, beginning with factory manager Peter Anderson, who famously interviewed Vera Duckworth (Liz Dawn) for a job at Brown’s Textiles.

More recently, James portrayed DS Willets on and off between 2013 and 2021. The detective featured after the Rovers Return fire in March 2013 and again when Pat Phelan’s crimes came to light in 2018.
James hasn’t limited his soap work to Coronation Street either. In 2011, he appeared in Emmerdale as DS Bedford, the officer investigating the brutal attack on Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley).
And here’s a surprise – despite their split, James and Sue have remained on good terms. In fact, they even performed together in a stage production called Marriages Made In Heaven in 2009.
Speaking to the Manchester Evening News at the time, James joked: “It’s pretty amusing to be doing this with Sue. Even though we divorced, we still get along — but this is the first time we’ve shared the stage since meeting in a play back in 1991.”

The revelation had fans in shock, with one fan commenting: “No way! I remember him.”
Another chimed in, saying, “I had no idea about that.”
