Your essential guide to the comings and goings on the cobbles in 2025.
With twists and turns galore in soapland it can be hard to keep track of all the comings and goings in the cast of Coronation Street.
Last year ended with the huge departure of one of the street’s longest-serving stars, Gail Rodwell (Helen Worth).
2025 has already seen some major departures, with recent big exits including Rovers barmaid Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) and the moving final days of Julie Carp (Katy Cavanagh-Jupe).
However, there are more changes to come.
RadioTimes.com is here with a handy update on which characters are leaving, joining and returning to the cobbles of Coronation Street in the coming months.
So who’s in? Who’s out? And which rumours are true? Read on for all the latest details on cast changes.
Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver)

When is Eileen Grimshaw leaving? Summer 2025.
A high-profile exit on the way for Coronation Street has to be soap legend Sue Cleaver as Eileen Grimshaw.
The character is set to depart our screens after 25 years following Cleaver’s decision to leave the role but the door will be left open for Cleaver to return as Eileen in the future.
In an interview with The Sun on Sunday, Cleaver confirmed that she wanted to “embrace change” after turning 60.
“I’ve had 25 privileged years of working on Coronation Street,” she told the publication.
“The door is still firmly open but as I reached my 60th year, I decided it was time to embrace change, look for new adventures and live fearlessly.”
The soap’s new producer, Kate Brooks, added in a statement: “We’re sad to bid farewell to the wonderful Sue Cleaver.
“Over the past 25 years, Eileen Grimshaw has been at the heart of some of the most memorable and iconic Corrie storylines, and her on-screen rivalry with Gail Platt will undoubtedly go down in Corrie folklore.
“There’s certainly no one quite like Eileen, and her character will be hugely missed on the cobbles. We wish Sue all the very best as she embarks on her next exciting chapter.”
For Eileen’s exit storyline, fans have seen the return of her half-sister Julie Carp and will also see the return of her son Jason Grimshaw.
Mick (Joe Layton) and Lou Michaelis (Farrel Hegarty)

When are Mick and Lou leaving? Summer 2025.
Despite only being recent additions to the Street, Mick and Lou Michaelis will be departing the soap in a dramatic storyline in the summer.
A Coronation Street spokesperson confirmed the news, telling RadioTimes.com: “This is not a shock exit or an early exit. Mick and Lou were brought into the show to cause chaos on the cobbles in the build-up to a major storyline in the summer and they are already making their presence felt.
“Joe and Farrell were contracted for a specific length of time, some characters come in for a long time and some like Mick and Lou are brought to pass through and leave a trail of destruction behind them. Both actors are still filming with the show and will be on screen until the summer.”
We’ll have to wait and see what will happen before the pair exits! And what will become of their troublemaking son Brody?
Aadi Alahan (Adam Hussain)

When is Aadi Alahan leaving? Summer 2025.
Dev’s son Aadi Alahan is set to leave Coronation Street as actor Adam Hussain has announced his departure from the soap.
The character was first introduced in 2006, with Hussain playing him since 2020. He has gone on to have major storylines, including romances with Summer Spellman, Amy Barlow, Kelly Neelan and Courtney Vance.
Hussain confirmed the news of his departure in a post on Instagram, writing: “I guess the secrets out now! As some of you may have heard, I will be leaving Coronation Street for new pastures.
“Over the 5 years I’ve spent there I have learned so much about the world and the industry and now feel I am ready to spread my wings a little. I have made friends that will last a lifetime and will surely miss such a special family!”
He continued: “This isn’t a farewell for Aadi however, more like a see you later! I’m excited to see what the future brings! Thank you @coronationstreet @itv for giving me such a privilege of portraying this character for you. Until next time! Adam.”
Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney)

When is Debbie Webster leaving? 2026.
Actress Sue Devaney is being written out of the show as her fan-favourite character Debbie Webster is due to be killed off in a long-running dementia storyline.
Devaney first appeared as 15-year-old Debbie Webster and starred in the role for one year, before returning to the soap in 2019, and has been a main cast member since 2020.
A source told Metro: “It’s one of the show’s biggest storylines of the year, and a real chance for Sue to finally get her time in the spotlight – it will just be devastating for fans that it will effectively be her final storyline.”
They added: “It’s one of many major storylines new boss Kate Brooks has in the bag, and there will not be a dry eye in the house.
“There is no doubt in the Corrie family that she will give the performance of a lifetime and make Debbie’s exit one to remember for years.”
The report also revealed that the character of Debbie was expected to stay in the show beyond 2025 to complete the long-running storyline, so there is plenty of Debbie still to come on-screen.
The storyline has since been confirmed by ITV and actress Sue Devaney.
Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank)

When is Billy Mayhew leaving? 2026.
Actor Daniel Brocklebank has been confirmed to be leaving our screens as Billy Mayhew in Coronation Street next year.
The Sun reports that a story-based decision will see Billy Mayhew depart the cobbles not long after losing his husband, Paul Foreman, in a new issues-based storyline in 2026.
Confirming his exit to the paper, Daniel said: “I have been working on Corrie for a quarter of my life.
“I have adored every minute I have been in that building and have never not looked forward to going into work.
“I love everyone who works on this show and whilst I am sad to be going, I am equally excited to see what the future holds.”

RETURNING
Jason Grimshaw (Ryan Thomas)

When is Jason Grimshaw returning? 30th May 2025.
Ryan Thomas has confirmed that he is reprising his role as Jason Grimshaw after nine years away for the exit of on-screen mum Eileen.
Speaking to The Daily Star about his return, Thomas said: “I got the call from Sue Cleaver asking if I would come back for her exit, so I’m going to step onto the cobbles for five minutes.
“I’m very loyal to where I came from. Corrie is where my career started. They taught me everything I know. I wouldn’t be where I am now if it wasn’t for the show. That place will always have my respect.”
Speaking about the opportunity his children will now have to see him onscreen, Thomas also revealed: “I’m excited. My kids weren’t alive when I was on Corrie, so it’ll be nice for them to see this. Maybe I will get to take my kids on the cobbles!”
Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley)

When is Eva Price reportedly returning? Autumn 2025.
Actress Catherine Tyldesley is reportedly returning to Coronation Street as former Rovers Return barmaid and Leanne Battersby’s half-sister Eva Price later this year.
The Sun reports that the actress begins filming with the soap this summer and will be back on-screen in the autumn.
A source told the paper: “Cath has been away for a while and worked on countless other projects but she really missed Corrie.
“They’ve tried to get her back a few times but the stars have never aligned.
“But when she was approached with the idea for Eva’s return, it was too good of an opportunity to pass up.”
The character of Eva left Weatherfield in 2018 with baby Susie following the tragic suicide of her true love, Aidan Connor, played by Shayne Ward.
ITV declined to comment when approached by RadioTimes.com about this report.
