Coronation Street actor breaks silence on dramatic Theo development amid Todd threat

Coronation Street’s James Cartwright has suggested that Theo Silverton is heading into a dark storyline.

Coronation Street’s James Cartwright finally addresses shocking Theo twist amid rising threat to Todd.

Todd (Gareth Pierce) met scaffolder Theo (James Cartwright) for the first time in March, and the two soon hit it off.

It was later discovered that Theo was already married to Danielle, played by Natalie Anderson, and they had a family of two kids.

When Danielle learned about Theo’s hidden relationship with Todd, his family turned their backs on him.

That’s not the full story — Theo also revealed to Todd that he had spent much of his life suppressing his true sexuality, having been subjected to conversion therapy by his deeply religious parents during his younger years, according to Leicestershire Live.

On Monday (June 30), Todd found out that Theo’s daughter, Millie (played by Kaitlyn Earley), had been faking a pregnancy.

Rather than admitting the truth to her father, Millie fabricated a story, alleging that Todd had encouraged her to get an abortion.

While Theo first blamed Todd for being dishonest, he ultimately came to his senses and recognised that it was his daughter who had been untruthful.

Later, Theo gave James Bailey (played by Jason Callender) a firm warning after he drunkenly tried to kiss Todd at Number Eleven.

“If I catch you hanging around him again, it won’t just be words we’re exchanging,” Theo threatened.

Soap fans have grown increasingly worried about Todd as Theo has shown aggressive behaviour in several recent episodes, especially following Glenda Shuttleworth’s (Jodie Prenger) drag night last month.

And it seems things are set to get even more difficult for Todd in the coming episodes. Appearing on Lorraine on Wednesday (July 2), James Cartwright, who plays Theo, hinted at a “dark” turn ahead as the relationship between the two characters continues to intensify.

“You can’t give too much away, but it sounds like things are going to take a darker turn with you, the love triangle, and Todd,” host Lorraine Kelly said.

James replied, “I believe it heads in that direction. Theo is a very complex character. While I don’t see him as malicious, or a psychopath or sociopath, he is definitely complicated.

“With people who carry baggage, you come to realise as you get older that they don’t really change. You want to change them, but you can’t. Yet you love them — so what do you do?”
