The drama unfolded after Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) was left heartbroken when she discovered that her partner, Harvey Monroe (Ross Boatman), had been cheating on her with Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth). Despite Jean’s desperate attempts to save the relationship, Harvey chose to move in with Kathy, leaving Jean crushed.

With Stacey emotionally unavailable and Jean away, the responsibility of running the household has fallen on young Lily and Freddie (Bobby Brazier).
