Coronation Street viewers stunned by Gareth Pierces authentic accent

Gareth Pierce has portrayed Todd Grimshaw on Coronation Street for five years, but some fans are only now realizing what his actual voice sounds like.

Coronation Street fans were left completely stunned after hearing the real voice of Gareth Pierce, who plays Todd Grimshaw, for the first time.

Gareth took on the role in 2020, replacing Bruno Langley, who had played Todd since 2001. Todd’s storyline on the cobbles has been full of drama, marked by turbulent relationships and ongoing conflicts that continue to captivate viewers.

Todd recently started dating Silverton (played by James Cartwright), but things quickly unraveled when he discovered that Theo was already married to Danielle (Natalie Anderson) and the couple had two children.

To make matters worse, Todd was hit with even more heartbreak when his much-loved Aunt Julie (Katy Cavanagh) sadly lost her battle with cancer.

Julie made a comeback to the show earlier this year as part of Eileen’s (Sue Cleaver) exit storyline. In a dramatic twist, after Julie’s death, Eileen—Todd’s mother—ended up being investigated for her murder, according to Leicestershire Live.

Outside of Coronation Street, Gareth Pierce has built a strong television career, with notable roles in shows like Mr Selfridge, Ordinary Lies, and Hollyoaks.

He also voiced all 11 episodes of Doctor Who: The Doctors Revisited and portrayed the rebellious Lenny Mack in Ruth Jones’ Sky comedy-drama Stella, which aired from 2013 to 2014.

However, it was hearing Gareth’s actual voice that recently left fans of the soap completely gobsmacked.

At the 2024 NTAs, Welsh actor Gareth left fans astounded by conducting his interview in fluent Welsh, causing quite a stir among his followers. One admirer rushed to comment, exclaiming: “Well that’s impressive!”

Another fan confessed their surprise, saying: “Ok, I did not know you were Welsh and l’ve met you.” A third joined in the praise, remarking: “Colour me impressed! Huge fan of your work.”

A fellow supporter echoed the sentiment, adding: “That’s impressive but you are an impressive actor mate and smashed it as Todd keep up the great work.”
