Viewers Sound Off: GH Feels Like ‘The Sonny Show’ All Over Again
Longtime viewers are growing increasingly annoyed that the popular ABC soap seems to be steering back into familiar territory — centering almost every major storyline around Sonny Corinthos once again.
From new characters to ongoing plots, fans feel Sonny’s presence is becoming overwhelming, and many are calling for new storylines and fresh faces to step into the spotlight. Despite their hopes, the narrative continues to circle back to the mob boss.
Unsurprisingly, the backlash online has been intense.
One fan vented, “I like Sonny, but having every storyline orbit around him got tired fast. Gio, Natalia, now Sidwell — and of course, there’s bound to be another love scene. Though, a DA vs. mobster angle is a classic.”
Another added, “Every storyline somehow includes Sonny or Kristina. It’s wild how the Drew plot — which involves Michael — is actually light on Sonny. It’s barely even focused on Carly! Jason being tied to it makes sense though.”

Frustrated fans are voicing their concerns loud and clear.
One viewer shared, “I was actually excited when Sonny’s heart condition came into play. I even had hope he might finally step away from the mob life. But now? I’m just scrolling through my phone during his scenes.”
Another chimed in, “Oh no, GH is turning back into the Sonny show again. I barely watched during that era the first time around.”
And another added, “Please don’t drag us back into this again. It’s crazy how they repurposed Sidwell — who was clearly meant to be a rival for Lucky — only to push him into Sonny’s orbit. They completely sidelined Lucky just to fit the story around Sonny.”
