“EastEnders actor Timothy West’s will disclosed — reason his wife receives less than half explained”

“EastEnders star Timothy West, who passed away at the age of 90 last November, showed remarkable generosity in his will, which outlined his final wishes.”

Timothy West demonstrated a remarkable gesture of kindness through his will.
The celebrated actor — known for his roles in popular shows like EastEnders, Coronation Street, and Brass — passed away in November last year at the age of 90. The beloved star died “peacefully,” surrounded by his loved ones at a care home, following a fall near his residence.

The actor, who was married to Fawlty Towers icon Prunella Scales, experienced a fall near his home in August that led to a traumatic brain injury. He spent approximately three months receiving treatment in hospital before being moved to a care home for palliative care.

Timothy’s will has now been made public, and he is said to have donated thousands to several charities following his passing. Reports state that the actor left behind an estate worth approximately £110,000, reduced from £221,425 after deductions.

As reported by The Sun, he donated £15,000 to the King George V Fund for Actors and Actresses, which supports elderly performers facing financial hardship. He also contributed £10,000 each to Bristol’s Old Vic Theatre, the Theatre Royal Trust, Southwark Cathedral, the arts organization Snipe Charitable Trust, and the humanitarian charity Médecins Sans Frontières UK.

West also set aside £5,000 for the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association. It is understood that he requested £20,000 be given to his sister Patricia, who resides in Sheffield.

Prunella, West’s wife of more than 60 years, is said to have inherited the remainder of his estate. Although the will was originally drafted in 2020, MailOnline reports that a revision was made in March 2024, which included the statement: “I declare jointly with my wife Pru we are giving to our son Sam the sum of £300,000 to aid the renovation of his home.”

After his passing, Timothy West’s children — Juliet, Samuel, and Joseph — honoured their beloved father with a heartfelt tribute. In a statement, they said: “Following a long and remarkable life both on and off the stage, our dear father Timothy West passed away peacefully in his sleep last night at the age of 90.”

“Tim was surrounded by friends and family in his final moments. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Prunella Scales, his sister, daughter, two sons, seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. We will all miss him deeply.”

West was married to actress Jacqueline Boyer from 1956 to 1961, and they had a daughter named Juliet. In 1963, he wed actress Prunella Scales, famous for her role as Sybil Fawlty in Fawlty Towers.

The couple had two sons, actor Samuel West and Joseph, both of whom appeared in two episodes of Great Canal Journeys. Prunella was diagnosed with vascular dementia in 2014.

Following Timothy’s passing, his son Samuel revealed that Prunella was “not well enough” to fully understand her husband’s death. Speaking to The Sunday Times, he said: “All I’m going to say is she’s not really well enough to take it all in.”
